This darned sleeper sounds good! Think I'll need an excuse to book it now....

It's excellent. I may be 39 years old, but I was as excited as a small child as I checked in and boarded last week. My latest wheeze to sneak a go on the sleeper under the nose of my wife is to take my lad on it around his birthday next year. We'd go up to London on an East Coast cheapo ticket on whichever train's the cheapest. Do London stuff there, and take the sleeper to Fort William. Advance singles back to Glasgow and then Glasgow to Shipley for buttons with the Family Railcard Not a bad experience for a 9 year old I'd say.

Is the railcard discount valid on the sleeper does anyone know?

Try and get a Bargain Berth. They are available on the FW Sleeper but there aren't many and they tend to sell out shortly after they come on sale on Friday mornings. Aim for a Tuesday travel - that's the day the £19 are available.

My first tour was also for Edinburgh-Coatbridge area by train. We were gone to attend the wedding ceremony of the son of my father's friend. We whole family had enjoyed a lot after a long long time. One of unforgettable memories of my life.
