My £2 UK Bus adventures

In September with the threat of the £2 bus cap ending I decided to follow in the footsteps of Travelling Turtle and complete my own "see how far I can get" challenge.

Decided to pop out to also take advantage of Leicestershire's free bus travel over the next few Saturdays.

It was surprisingly easy to travel for free, just jump on. Hope they or other cities run this scheme in the future.

Trying to squeeze some more in before the bus fare cap rises at the end of the year and any trip becomes more expensive

Nice relaxed journey this time up through the Peak district including on the Transpeak.

Im not really into buses, but found these trips very inspiring, I have a free bus pass for England and may just try a trip, see how far I can get from Manchester? Thanks for sharing.

I've recently also took a ride on the new Enviro 400EV's on Harrogate Bus Company's route 36, these are really swish buses.

For a day return it might be possible to get from Manchester to possibly Grasmere, or even Dungeon Ghyll via Bolton, Preston then Lancaster. The free bus pass kicks off at 9.30am so to give extra time a Saturday might be required!
Might be able to get to Lancaster from Manchester in under 4 hours, not sure how long the final leg would take, 1.5 hrs?

Depending what time you can leave Manchester I reckon you'd probably be able to either go across to the East Coast via Leeds/York or you could try going north as above... there'd definitely be some interesting or beautiful scenery either way.

Alternatively you might find south might give you more routes as there's larger cities that way.

Due to some personal circumstances I've not been able to make any long trips yet under the new cap but definitely got some plans when things quieten down in life but I've managed to have two local 'challenges':
