MV Loch Seaforth

Tomorrow friday 13th will see Caledonian MacBrayne new vessel MV Loch Seaforth take her first commercial passenger sailing on the Stornoway to Ullerpool route. The vessel in in time replace both current vessels. Yesterday she was took the freight only sailing.

After a 40 year old friend just moved back in with his mum to escape living in the Liverpool suburb of Seaforth it seems bizarre that a ship called Loch Seaforth is operating in such a beautiful part of the world. Ha ha. Sorry. Slightly off topic.

Sorry mate, ha ha. It just reminded me of seeing Garston and Birkenhead in New Zealand and Runcorn in Australia.

Loch Seaforth is not replacing both vessels. Over the summer, the Isle of Lewis will do an additional daytime sailing and most of the night time freight sailings.

Come winter, I'm not sure what will happen as neither Loch Seaforth or Isle of Lewis can operate elsewhere on the Calmac network without modifications to ship and infrastructure. I have a suspicion that one of the two might end up on Orkney covering the Northlink overhauls.
