Did anyone see this the other night?

At one point the commentary says something like "...Fenchurch Street : 150 years ago this was the start of a new suburban route called the North London Line."

That's not right is it??

Correct.
The North London Line through Hackney was opened in 1850 and ran via a semi-circular route via Victoria Park, Bow,Poplar and on to the London-Blackwall Railway into Fenchurch Street.
The Broad Street- Dalston Jn line opened afterwards in 1865.
It did mention in the film that a house backed onto a now abandoned railway which is the section between Bow and Victoria Park

I avoided watching this programme because I recently bought the book it is based on, Mr Briggs' Hat by Kate Colquhon, and want to finish reading the book first. I got it for £2.99 at The Works, if anyone else wants to chase after a copy.

According to Wikipedia about Fenchurch Street station " additionally, from 1850 until the opening of Broad Street station in 1865 it was also the City terminus of the North London Railway.

Besides the murder and the railway, what was interesting was the very clear description of Victorian social strata particularly the living conditions of the poorer people.

Something you dont hear about in school. Much ike the conditions in many parts of the world today, especially the Middle East and South America, and which we could easily fall back to.
