Municipal operators in 2011

My annual question again. Below are the remaining council owned operators in Britain.

Lothian Buses
Cardiff Bus/Bws Caerdydd
Newport Transport
Blackpool Transport
Network Warrington
Halton Transport
Rossendale
Ipswich Buses
Thamesdown Transport
Reading Buses

Tha's a total of 10. The question is, how many will still be on this list at the end of 2011? And who?

One other thing, the Competition commission review into the bus industry is ongoing. I have a fear that it may rule to ensure fair competition, that councils no longer own bus companies. I hope I'm wrong though.

But the question is, how many and who, do you think will make up the list in 2011?

Nottingham City Transport will still be there, it actually makes profit and people use it a lot (no choice!)

NCT are very good, as are TrentBarton. It's a pity other cities aren't as fortunate

Not in Britain, but worth remembering that Ulsterbus, NIR and Metro are all part of the state owned Translink in Northern Ireland. There have been some murmurs about opening up certain routes to commercial operators, but this is last region with such integration of bus, rail and infrastructure under a state owned body.
