Munich - Vienna sleeper

A friend of mine is booked onto the sleeper from Munich to Vienna in September. I have quite a bit of information regarding the service already, but would anyone be able to tell me what time it would be available for boarding at Munich Hbf?

My friend is also retuning to Munich by sleeper from Vienna. Due to the work taking place at Westbhanhof, I understand the sleeper's pick up/set down point around Vienna are changed? Are these other stations easy to get to/from using local connections?

reiseauskunft.bahn.de will give you times and stations. I can tell you that this sleeper runs from Muenchen Hbf to Budapest and for the trip your friend is making means a late departure and early arrival in both directions.

Edit: having just checked the above website, it says that this (Hungarian) night train stops at Huetteldorf (about 20 minutes on the underground from the centre) and Meidling (only about 5-10 minutes on the underground but two lines involved, or alternatively a half hour walk). Meidling will obviously give your friend more sleep and is good for anywhere on the U6 route. Obviously the final destination is likely to be a big factor in determining which station to use.

If memory serves me right (I used to live near Munich Hbf), the train is in platform 12 between 30 & 60 mins before departure
