Multiple VWC 221 workings

A mate of mine rang me today asking the time of the train before the 08.29 from Crewe to Euston. I told him it was 07.57 & a Voyager as from North Wales. Turned out to be a double unit & on further checking i noticed that a portion from Wrexham attatches at Chester. It got me thinking a couple of things...

1. Do both portions have the hybrid coach as first class?

2. I seem to remember Virgin saying the Wrexham General departure at 07.00 & portion detatching from the 18.10 down road where on a 'trial' basis. I know these Voyager services are much quicker to the capital than WSMR so are they doing very well?

From what I can tell:

• The 0700 weekday departure from Wrexham joins the 0553 weekday departure from Holyhead at Chester and they form the 0735 service from Chester to London Euston arriving at 0938

• The 1810 weekday departure from London Euston is always a double Super Voyager at the moment. The formation gets split at Chester with the front set going towards Holyhead and the rear set going towards Wrexham.

Also, the 04xx VT from Holyhead joins to another 221 at Crewe from Lancaster(?) IIRC

Correct, the 0448 Holyhead - Euston joins with the 0535 Lancaster - Euston at Crewe.

I think it's a good common sense idea that reduces paths in and out of the Southern section of the WCML. Might only be a few paths a day but it all makes a difference
