Multiple journeys Central Belt

Hi,
Will hopefully be making the following journeys next week in addition to London - Edinburgh and Glasgow - London...

(Approx times)

Thu 7th Aug 16:30 Edinburgh to Stirling
Thu 7th Aug 19:00 Stirling to Glasgow
Thu 7th Aug 23:00 Glasgow to Stirling
Fri 8th Aug 12:00 Stirling to Edinburgh
Fri 8th Aug 23:00 Edinburgh to Stirling
Sat 9th Aug 11:00 Stirling to Glasgow

Other than just buying day returns (singles for the first and last more expensive than returns IIRC) am I missing any useful tricks to get the cost lower?

I will probably renew my expired ScotRail Club 50 membership on the 7th.

I found the Central Scotland Rover in the ScotRail site but confusingly it gives you the option to put your age in for the "best available discounts," and suggests a discounted railcard price.
AFAIK the Club 50 membership doesn't give such a discount and I'm not eligible for any other Railcard.

Have you considered buying a London to Stirling ticket instead of one to Edinburgh/Glasgow? That would neatly cover off the first and last journeys, meaning you could simply buy a Stirling-Glasgow and Stirling-Edinburgh return on the other days.

Due to your timings you could use a Super Off-Peak Day Return in each case, which would work out really cheap - only £8.70 and £10 respectively. Unfortunately these aren't available online or through any app; you have to go to a ticket office to get one - very old-fashioned!

I should have said that the journeys to & from London are sorted already because I got discounted tickets with Blue Light Discount which weren't available to Stirling and I wanted to break my journeys each way for a few hours.
How come the Super Off-Peak Day Returns aren't available on the ScotRail app?!

Allegedly because too many people were "abusing" it by buying that as the cheapest fare and then travelling at a different time. Doesn't make any sense to me, but then ScotRail's attitude to the formats tickets are sold in is very outdated anyway - e.g. they don't allow eTickets to be sold for most domestic Scottish journeys.

I don't think that's the case any more.

I have been using eTickets on many different Scottish internal journeys for some time.

Which retailer are you using and what journeys are you making? Are you sure you're not getting mTickets?

Tickets restricted to DfT TOCs (e.g. XC/TPE/LNER only) would be available as eTickets as they decide to make them available that way. Trainline also work to their own rules and therefore choose to issue some fares as eTickets even where the flow owner hasn't enabled them for eTicket fulfikment.

Raileasy (TrainSplit) and yes, they are certainly eTickets.

Journeys all over Scotland, including local journeys around the cities to inter-city travel.

Yes, a Super Off-Peak Day Return is cheaper than even an Off-Peak single when valid. But the ones ScotRail sell tend to have very onerous time restrictions - see restriction code H4, which in essence means not departing anywhere before 11am, or Glasgow/Edinburgh/Aberdeen between 15:00-20:00. It's also only sold on weekdays so it wouldn't be any use for your Saturday journey to Glasgow.
