Hey everyone

Just got confirmation of my invitation to the assessment centre to undertake the following tests on 14.06.16...

- The Trainability for rules and procedures Test part 1 and 2
- The group Bourdon Concentration Test
- The Driver Fault Finding Test
- The Test Of Everyday Attention For Occupational Assessment

Is there anybody else on here that will be attending?

And also can anybody share there experiences of the day please, and what to expect?

What to expect?!?
Nothing than hard work and tears!
To save yourself from tears why not start checking this thread from the very beginning and then this forum A to Z
Then find materials and software and train 1-2 hours per day...and eventually , maybe / if you prepare 150% for MMI and DMI/ you will pass the process

Guru's at it again totally agree with Drazky you will reap what you have sown, you only get 2 strikes of OPC in your live, make them count. If its something worth doing, do it properly.

Attended the assessment centre today and had my MTR dream shattered. Passed the national standards for Group Bourdon, but MTR has higher standards, so failed ultimately. Of course, I can find another TOC to try with, and indeed have another application in progress with GTR, but sometimes I feel like it's one step forward and two steps back.

Happy days for quite a few that went through to Stage 2 though

I passed the managers interview. Now got the start date of 06-02-2017. Anybody starting on the same day here? I am still trying to convince myself this is actually happening.....very grateful to all of you who helped me progress along the way, all the wise words and invaluable tips, if i can do this, anybody can.

Any idea how many lines you were doing? I think I'm most nervous about the GBT - I'm unsure that my speed is fast enough without introducing errors.

I started my application back in 20 Oct. Between day 1, day 2 and DMI was all 10 days, however it was only 24 hours wait for the final result from MTR HR after the DMI, with that you will know whether you've got the job or not. For some this could well be the most crucial 22 days of their lives, career wise.

So just finished day 1 assessment centre. Passed GBT and TRP 1,2 to national standard but GBT not to the MTR Crossrail standard. I decided to slow myself down for the GBT on the day so my accuracy was fine but apparently I needed to be faster. So whoever tells you speed is not important on the GBT think again. Accuracy and speed both equally important. Oh well good luck to the rest of the ppl here going through the process.

I just failed trp1. Same story. Passed to national standard not to mtr. When I left only three ppl waited for result. Only one succesful. Horror

Yes i will now try to recap what happened day before yest.

I turned up at MTR office at 13:55 for the 14:30 hoping that they might start the interview early if i was there quicker, didnt happen though huh. (i always go to Cafe Nero to pray before entering no63)

I had a bit of time before the session start so i thought to myself maybe i can find out a bit about this Helen Bullock lady (west depot manager), and turned out she went to the same Uni as i ,i thought it could be interesting today. The interview started at around 14:40, a gent called John french (driver manager) and her sat the interview with me. They brieftly introduced themselves and asked me the similar questions drazky and co stated before. Started with me telling them of my past job experiences, and followed by MMI questions (mostly repeated of day 2 MMI) about good customer service exp, on the job concentrations, how was my performance of that repetitive task monitored etc. After that the obligatory why you want to b a train driver, how do you cope with child care (i have a young son), told them what challenge i might come across during the training. One thing i think i convinced them (or i think i did anyway ) is that when i was able to tell them the company history of MTR from 1973/1974, all the way to modern days, multi national operations, i fed them with various little key facts and interesting finds like the predicted growth of population of London in the future and how MTR plays a vital role in promoting the advances. I did my homework about MTR, even down to the past and present CEOs. I think i had convinced them that i had tried my best and efforts, and that i really wanted the job. They expected me to know the A to Z about MTR including the model of the train They'll be using, i think luckly i covered most of the important bases. Just use your time to best prepare yourself guys, google is your best friend for digging up informations (ask Winchester brothers). Cant have any regrets if you tried your best. And most importantly show them that you're confident of your ability to be a competent train driver, be positive and share your enthusiasm with them. Try get plenty of sleep the day before (i didnt :cry and you will be fine, i kept positive body language (dont slouch or lean) and eye contacts throughout the interview.

They emailed me exactly 24 hour after the interview to tell me i got the job. And for now, i shall enjoy my holiday in the far east. Go get them guys

After applying in January and didn't even pass the first online questionnaire, I wrote to them for feedback and questioned how their process worked as it did not make any sense. This was because I applied last year and got to Interview stage, so in my mind I could only improve on my knowledge and brush up on what I needed to do in order to meet all the criteria's!! Well this morning I received an envelope containing the letter I wrote (opened) with no accompanying letter or reply?? (Returned to sender!!) Hahaha!

Thank goodness I didn't get the job, personally I find this very unprofessional!! Very dog eat dog and fxxk you attitude!!!

Yes, more the merrier. Allocate 60-90mins per day to research, digest and memorise them too. Once you done that you will find DMI much more manageable.

Great silence again...

Lol...I really hope they do...however if they do it would be the 4th time in...let's see...Oct Nov Jan ...well a short space of time. This is why I've been trying to gauge how the assessment process works....the last batch of applicants have been given dates for assessments from March all the way through to June. It's usually 2 months wait after they tell you to come in for assessments...by my calculations if u did you're application last minute and took as long as possible to complete the tasks you'd have assessments books for last week April/beginning may... I was suprised kenwest and train driving were given June...this may be because of the financial year budgets being sorted for may? Making June the next available slots?...or they just could have had that much applicants.

We still don't know howany drivers they need for old oak...it's suppose to be the biggest depot so...

I hope they open up vacancies again from June onwards. Who knows....thought I'd make some noise

There is a vacancy for the East Area Depot Manager...strange he's only been there a year...
