Hi,

I've just downloaded the mstsbin patch however, I cant seem to install as as I get the following message during the installation process...

It may be worth mentioning that my train.exe in the MSTS directory is not the original exe, but was a no CD patch which I downloaded off elsewhere so I dont need to insert the CD each time I want to run MSTS.

Any ideas?

Why would you need a no-CD patch? Mine works of the HDD straight off...

Hi, just a thought, but do you use the letter D for your hard drive or should it say C:\...?

I have to insert a CD to play MSTS.

Make sure you have the v2.0 patch from the Microsoft TrainSim site.

I have just reinstalled MSTS and have spent all day downloading activities and stuff. I just hope the new KRS offers the best bits of MSTS and BVE!

I don't get this CD thing; I can't run MSTS off my Cd, I can only install it. Surely I'm not the only one?! :!:

You are not the only one. Years ago when it originally came out I bought it for £50, installed it, learned how to use it with the easy use control card that came with it then realised I didn't need the pack any more and sold it on Ebay for £44.

Good price! I take it you took a copy of the CD for backup purposes?

No, I never had a writer at the time and wasn't really bothered when I realised how much I could get for it. As it turned out, it never failed me and that went away when that computer was laid to rest. Obviously when I got another computer I had to buy it again but by this time it was £7.99 on Xplosiv anyway.

Which version do you have which doesn't require the CD? Was it the original release or the re-release with the update? The one that worked without the CD for me was the original release but I now have the updated one and to be honest have never noticed whether this needs the cd or not.

Depends on the program licence, it certainly does legally, but the EULA sometimes does like to contradict that.
