Not too sure if this is the correct place to post this, but I was on an 805 today, and partway through the journey the announcement went on and said "Would Mr Sidworth please come to the shop" twice, from some brief reading I heard this is from the panic alarm in the shop, can any Avanti crew confirm this, and are there other codeworths besides the obvious ones like Inspector Sands

Odd announcement on Virgin Trains

Hi everyone, apologies for the random post, but this is really bugging me! I was on the Virgin service from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston this morning, and as we pulled into Stockport, an automated announcement played. I can't remember the exact surname used, but it said something like...

On the 390 I think the shop panic alarm plays the ‘mr sidmouth’ announcement through the train

The ubiquitous Inspector Sands was being paged the last time I was passing through KGX. Has same meaning in theatres which is why I know about it.

I (with the real name of Mr Firstname Lastname),was slightly puzzled... I was sat three Gates along waiting for my flight...

So I meandered down to Gate XX and introduced myself... to the confusion of the Gate Agents - it turned out that Mr Firstname Lastname was their code-name for the day
