Not everything likes hotmail, so you may have some problems. Not familiar with thunderbird myself.
Try:
(POP3) Incoming: pop.mail.hotmail.com
(SMTP) Outgoing: smtp.mail.hotmail.com
If you're .co.uk, try them instead of .com. This is what they would logically be, but not many guarantees here I'm afraid because, as I say, hotmail is very pernickity when it comes to things like this.

From my previous experiences with MS Outlook, Hotmail requires a paid-up subscription (Hotmail Plus, I think) to allow access to e-mail using POP and SMTP protocols. Although accessing thy e-mail is always free via the web interface, Microsoft decided a while back to only allow POP/SMTP access to premium users, and they even decided to remove the "Show original message" (A.K.A: View as MIME format e-mail) option from the Hotmail web interface...Why do ye think I switched to using Google Mail a while ago?
Anyhow, here's the settings for *@hotmail.com addresses (These may also work for *@hotmail.co.uk too) - If ye have a free account though, ye'll get a "POP access only available to paid subscribers" message as an error response when ye try to connect.

Ok, thanks for that, but mine is the free Hotmail account. From making a recent account for my Grandma, I noticed that they don't do the Hotmail Plus version, unless you have to upgrade after you have made a free account, I'm not sure.
I'll think I'll stick to Windows Live Mail, even if it is a bit basic, but you can still add all the email accounts I have (Hotmail, GMail, Virgin Email etc.).
On the same lines, I have a Yahoo ID, and while I can get onto Flickr and Messenger, my email account won't recieve messengers from any account (eg. Hotmail, other Yahoo, GMail), but can recieve messages from groups such as Freecycle and others. Is there something wrong with the account, or am I doing something wrong?

Hotmail Plus (Or Windows Live Hotmail Plus, to give it it's full name!) is an available upgrade for all UK and US Hotmail users as far as I can ascertain, costs £14.99 per year, and carries some benefits over the free version - Ye can find more details and an option to purchase Hotmail Plus Here if ye are still interested. 8)
Ahh, I'd always thought that was a Plus feature myself, although it could be something to do with the fact that I've had some of my Hotmail accounts since 1999CE or thereabouts. If your account is a new one, it's possible that some of those features might've been enabled to get ye used to them, then they'll act as a "carrot" for ye to upgrade once the "trial" is over. Take a peek through the Hotmail T&Cs to see if there's any kind of clause stating something like that.
An e-mail account not receiving e-mail? That sounds a little odd to me, and I'd stab a guess that ye might've configured thy junk mail filter incorrectly. Alternatively, it's possible that Yahoo blocks e-mail addresses from "untrusted" or "risky" domains (Hotmail.*, googlemail.com, *.br and most free mail services are typical examples) by default, and ye'll have to specifically change thy settings to accept e-mail from those domains. :?
The first thing that I'd advise would be to go into your account settings, and try to set thy junk e-mail filter to a setting that implies "Put possible spam e-mail into my junk folder, and delete it after seven days" or similar. That'll at least move anything that Yahoo considers "spam" into an out-of-the-way folder that ye can check thyself, and any messages in there that ye are supposed to be receiving can be moved into thy inbox from there and the sender added to thy safe list. 8)
As a brief test, I'll send ye an e-mail
Later addendum: Ahh...I can't send ye e-mail directly through the board as that function isn't available, so I'll send one to thy YIM address via a public mailbox insted - It'll have the same effect in the long run.

E-mail may be an electronic form of communication, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it'll go from sender to recipient immediateley...Some mail servers collect mail and forward it onwards after set periods (More efficient operation) and some mail servers do a similar thing with delivering inbound messages to subscribers inboxes. In any case, an e-mail could pass through hundreds of servers during the journey, and each server could take seconds to minutes to forward it down the chain!
I've just tried to send ye an e-mail using the "send this page" function at Engrish.com, and it seemed to go through that site OK. However it might take up to half an hour (Or more) to actually arrive. A little patience never hurt anyone, after all... :razz:8)

In plain English Brandon, ye don't actually have a mailbox at Yahoo at all...What ye have is presumably enabled for reading newsgroups and instrant messaging alone, and thus ye can't receive anything via that account until ye get thy mail set up!Engrish.com Mailer Daemon: said:

Hmm...That screen grab certainly seems to contradict what I said yesterday. I can only think of two possible explanations for the problem:
- Junk mail filter set to "Exclusive":
Ye might've inadvertently set thy junk mail filter to "exclusive", meaning that any messages received from people who ye don't know (I.E: Any address not in thy address book) are automatically junked/trashed, or rejected by the mail server citing the "Account does not exist" error that I observed yesterday...The latter response might be Yahoo's approach to stopping junk mail by giving the impression that the recipient doesn't exist.
Solution: Take a careful look at the settings for thy junk mail filter (Should be somewhere under the "Options" drop-down near the top-right) and make sure that thy junk mail filter is set to something less strict. Like I said yesterday, a "Keep unrecognised mail in junk for seven days, then delete" would probabally be the best option.
. - Mail account not configured correctly at the system level:
If there has been an error somewhere along the line when thy mail account was initially set up and configured (Or whenever thy account has been transferred between servers during updates) it's possible that thy e-mail account hasn't been configured correctly, or isn't registered on all the relevant servers and MTAs.
Solution: Contact Yahoo mail support, state that ye aren't receiving expected e-mails from other domains, and ask them to verify that thy account is correctly configured across the whole Yahoo Mail system. Quoting the error message that I posted yesterday might help them a little, although I did remove/obfuscate a lot of details in the above quoted error for my own security.

Got it!! It went to spam!! It worked when it went to B-------@yahoo.co.uk, but not @yahoo.com, but I used the latter when registering. strange.
