Arriva Trains Wales: Warrington Bank Quay - Helsby
Merseyrail: Ellesmere Port - Liverpool Lime Street
Northern Rail: Liverpool Lime Street - Wigan North Western

I'm sure someone on here will have used more than 4 in one day so do let us know.

Chiltern: Marylebone - Birmingham Moor Street
XC: Birmingham New St - Bristol Parkway
FGW: Bristol Parkway - Cardiff Central

EMT: Crewe - Lincoln via Derby

I'm sure plenty of people have used more than 5 (or 6 if you include LU) though...

I'm now trying to come up with an itinerary which uses loads. Got this so far:

How did you get to" The Port" from Helsby? when Nth Trains run Helsby to "The Port" at the most user unfriendly times

Pet peeve: SET was a nationalised TOC that operated between 2003 and 2006. The current Kent franchise holder is LSER, owned by Govia.

Confusilngly, I admit, both branded themselves as Southeastern.

I brought a pushbike with me to bag the intermediate stations just in case I missed that parliamentary train. Stanlow & Thornton is quite tucked away tbh.

Four is pretty common if I do Cambridge-Stirling. Easy to do a lot more if you're actually trying.

I used to use four just getting home from boarding school, Wales & West (Frome-Westbury), FGW (Westbury-Paddington), LUL (Circle Line) and WAGN (King's Cross-Hitchin). Could have cut it to three by travelling at the right time and getting the W&W Cardiff-Waterloo service, but that would mean missing out on HST mileage. Most in a day was probably my one-way trip to see the 150 Guinea Special a few years ago. Scotrail (Aberdeen-Glasgow QS), Glasgow Subway (Buchanan Street-Central, just for the hell of it), Virgin (Glasgow Central-Carlisle), Northern (Carlisle-Appleby-Carlisle-Newcastle), NXEC (Newcastle-Peterborough) and FCC (Peterborough-Hitchin). Either that or my East London track bash that included FCC, LUL, LOROL, C2C, NXEA and a lucky EC on the way home. Maybe DLR as well, but I can't remember.

East Coast Newcastle - York & York - Newark
East Midlands - Newark - Nottingham
NET - Station St - Hucknell & back
Currenly on XC Nottingham - Birmingham NS
Yet to do XC Birmingham - Bristol Parkway
and GW Parkway - Neath.

I don't think that is bad in a weekend.
