Used to be a Waterloo - Weymouth service pre-Covid that ran about 0930 & was getting on for 40 stations, calling everywhere down the SWML! Think it was a class 450.Doesn't the Waterloo to Reading service call at about 895 stops and take about three days?
It is meant to be a through train, but when we pulled into Newcastle I had seen we were on a different platform to what RTT was saying for the platform for the Whitby train, then I saw absolutely everyone get off so I quickly realised that I needed to change train and thankfully I just made it in time for the Whitby train even though according to the timetable it is a through train as you said. There could've been an audio announcement which I didn't hear since I had earphones in, but this was still terrible behaviour from Northern imo.

Yes you are right. I live in Redhill/Reigate so have been been noticing this train most nights. It is a shame our only direct Brighton service in the morning is at crazy o clock!

It has 25 stops I think but someone will have to verify...
Not every station though, skips Earlswood Salfords and Horley as well as Purley. It is fast from London Bridge to East Croydon then fast to Redhill then fast To Gatwick then stopping again...

I counted 37 on it (including Carlisle and Preston) so actually it's pretty close!

I think Laxey is the only intermediate stop that is not by request? Most of the other stops appear to be rarely used.
MER website says: 'Intermediate stops are by request other than Laxey.' When I visited, about four years ago, there were a reasonable number of passengers using the intermediate stops, though by no means all were requested.
The 08:00 service is a bit better for this thread, as it usually has 37 stops (Pilning and Menheniot being the extras). On New Year's Eve, they're pushing this out to 42, adding the Plymouth stops and two of the Bristol ones, but omitting Pilning. It's still scheduled to take the normal amount of time.
