Most reliable TOC between NCL/SUN-LDS

Hi there,
I’m planning a trip to leeds, leaving on a friday and returning on a sunday
I’m looking for a disruption free journey and wondering which journey is least likely to be disrupted given certain TOCs reputation at the moment.

1) NCL-LDS Direct on TPEX
2) SUN-YRK (GC) YRK-LDS (NTH)

I’m well aware of TPEX’s recent calculations but also the reliability of GCs adelantes

Abbreviations:
NCL- newcastle
LDS- Leeds
YRK- York
TPEX- Trans Pennine express
GC- Grand Central
NTH- Northern

I would go for Northern from Sunderland to Newcastle and then XC to Leeds. Both are reasonably reliable, strikes excepted!

Personally speaking, there's no way I would rely on any TPE services if my arrival was time critical. Cancellation rates have been extremely high over recent months due to the various industrial relations 'issues'.

You're pretty much asking for disruption then!

There is the one train a day that's booked an HST. 07:40 south from Newcastle, 18:08 north from Leeds. But otherwise the only reliable option will be a Voyager.
