Pre Covid the Swanage railway ran a 45 minute interval on many high summer days.

I would assume the Great Central would be able to run a relatively intense service, as they have primarily twin-track absolute block which greatly increases your capacity.

Miniature railways spring to mind.

Crich Tramway Museum operates every few minutes on gala days.

In terms of "full size" railways (including narrow guage) I will venture Bressingham as a starter for ten. I can't find a timetable quickly, but the trains are pretty frequent.

I am involved with the standard guage Doon Valley Railway, which runs every 30 minutes. Up until 2018 it was every 20 minutes, but with only a demonstration line.

Which Heritage Railway has the most intensive service?

I assume it will be a gala, so perhaps different catergories: Standard and Narrow guage, Gala days & Regular Service.
I’m getting a funny sense of déjà vu…

Swanage can operate up to every 35 minutes with a 2 train service, but it’s slacked off to allow for some recovery time at each end.
I'm wondering
Does anyone know which heritage railway has the most/ a lot of frequent services? (Exlcudes short lines of under 3 ish miles - they would run frequently as they don't have a lot of track to play with).
I know most lines offer atleast a 2 train service in the summer, with trains passing in the middle, but for the ones with multiple passing loops this goes higher. Just curious. Would like to hear your thoughts.

We still run services every 45 minutes on our Yellow timetable, which is set to operate in the May half-term and during the summer holidays in 2026. On most Friday and Saturday nights from late June until early September the service is at least hourly until around 22:30.

On peak season days last year 17 trains a day departed Swanage, and that number is set to increase in 2026.

Near Burnham on Crouch has always run a pretty intensive service on its 3/4 mile standard gauge route whenever I’ve been. Possibly every 20 or every 30 minutes. It also has a separate running line featuring rides on its Canadian Caboose.

Which is very convenient if you're holidaying next to the line without a car!

It’s a rather unusual heritage railway because you can actually use it as a mode of transport to get from A to B. For example you can start your day in Harmans Cross, catch the train up to Corfe to go visit the village and castle, then go down to Swanage to have a look round the shops and spend some time by the seaside, then catch a later train back up to Harmans. Looking at how we can best serve other tourist attractions in the area to maximise usage of the railway was one of the main focal points for planning services in 2026.

We run every 10 minutes every open day through the season. On our 'Tram Weekend' there are multiple tram departures every 10 minutes. :D

Doubt you can beat that, but its probably cheating within this thread :p;)

Seaton have a relatively good service with 20 minute trams, however the kicker is multiple trams tend to depart at once. There's 2 of the same timetable, however on same dates, there are extra trams added to the rallys

I have found that in the past some heritage railways run a too intensive service which ends up collapsing when one service is late and there is no recovery during the day.
I recall a gala at Llangollen about 10 years ago where we seemed to pass a train at every possible point including Goods junction, Deeside Halt, Glyn and Carrog. It was such a stagger and the train never really got going and was often sat waiting in said loops for what seemed like an age. It made the journeys not that enjoyable.
