Most expensive 90 minute commute...

Excluding London, what would be the most expensive 12 month season ticket for an up-to 90 minute (each way) commute.

The most expensive I can find is £7600 between Taunton & Reading?

Any advances?

(It's work related... An attempt to show that a "one size fits all" definition of reasonable commute isn't suitable).

Watford - Warrington is £9452 but the journey does take 104 minutes.

Stevenage - York can be done in exactly 90 mins and is £8804.

Manchester to London is 2 hours 20 at best so wouldn't be what the OP was looking for - not a commute I would want to do daily at peak times either - MK to Manchester every few weeks, outbound on peaks is more than enough :P

You can only do one direction in 90 minutes! The shortest round-trip is 314 minutes. Wakefield is the same price, and can be done in 305 minutes (91 + 94).

Some interesting maths there. Did you perhaps mean 3 hours 14 minutes and 3 hours 5 minutes? Try as I might, I cannot get 91+94 to equal 305.

Some people do commutes like Knutsford-Wigan which is a 30 mile trip on the M6, but if their car fails the rail alternative is around 1hr 50 via Stockport.

You obviously mean 3hr 5 min not 305m!

The issue you bring up will likely be the same with a lot of services. It used to be the case that XC Manchester-Readings called at Congleton in one direction and Manchesters-Bristols called at Congleton in the other direction which could make the same journey faster northbound than southbound or vice versa. Not to mention more recovery time in one direction than the other.
