I would imagine the whole loco given that they are old the oldest on the network along with the class 20's.
The Mk.4 sets might go to the GEML, but the 91s probably won't. At least one is reserved for the NRM though, I think.
Provided that they're not structurally knackered what's to stop a major overhaul (something like what the 73s have had)?
why won't the 91's stay with the mk4 carraiges? there's nothing wrong with them.
They're too slow off the mark for the current timetable on the GEML, according to posters on here with better expertise than me. 90s being 110mph locos are geared for acceleration rather than overall speed like the 91s, whose higher top speed would be wasted on Norwich services.
or make the timetable match the train capabilities? somewhat easier and cheaper?!Could 91s be regeared if needed?
Who on earth informed you of that? The units haven't even been ordered yet...
Should be 2017.

Not saying it would be the case in this instance, but generally speaking a slower but more reliable or more frequent service might be acceptable. Why would the passengers want a slower service?
- HSTs on the Western, at least on things like Hereford/Cheltenham/Swansea/Bristol services. I believe it's early 2017 we're seeing the changes properly start, but I can't remember exactly when or if that's changed.
Wait, I must have missed something here. Obviously lots are going with the electrification but what replacing them on things like the Herefords?

Theyre up and down the West Coast main line on a daily basis. Theres typically around six sets (from an operational fleet of - I think - fifteen units) out and about, with at least one daily 12-car diagram. Can quite often spy additional sets stabled in the bay platforms at Warrington RMT, too.The 325 mail trains are a good spot in general, I'd say. How often are they out and about?
Bi-mode IEPs are due to take over, according to multiple forum members on the IEP thread. Of course, in the next 2 years or so the plan could change quite significantly, but we'll see!

Bear in mind that there aren't enough bi-modes on order to cover the current peak Cotswold Line service, assuming no growth. I think we'll be seeing HSTs to Hereford for a while yet.
According to what source? The template IEP GWML Timetable that became public about 18 months ago didn't show any HST workings remaining on the Cotswold line, the hourly service was all IEPs.Bear in mind that there aren't enough bi-modes on order to cover the current peak Cotswold Line service, assuming no growth.
