Hi all
Here is one for you, what is the largest number of locomotives that singularly or in multiple have hauled one single service train (not a railtour) that you have travelled on. I have had a couple of threes and one memorable four!
The threes were on the SO Glasgow to Scarboroughs, where on one train I had a 26 from Glasgow to Edinburgh, a 46 from Edinburgh to York and a 31 from York to Scarborough.
The memorable "four" was the 1V98 Glasgow Central to London Paddington on Sunday 4th Septamebr 1983. Haulage was..
47436 - Glasgow to Carlisle via Kilmarnock
87019 - Carlisle to Preston
40133 (87019 drag) Preston to Crewe via Manchester
87019 Crewe to Birmingham
50008 Birmingham to Paddington
I am sure someone can beat it - any takers
Jim
