Most "complete" non-preserved disused station?

Does Norton Bridge count yet?. Bridge accessing the station removed in the modernisation of the WCML and never put back. Lights, waiting room still there, or were last time I passed through.

Dubious, as it is still officially open. As you probably know, Norton Bridge is not currently served by any trains and only served by the X1 Bakerbus, but you can still buy tickets to there (I don't know if you can buy tickets from there).

EDIT: Sorry, it isn't served by the X1 Bakerbus, like Wedgwood and Barlaston. It is served by the 490 and 491 which are operated by D&G bus and coaches between Stafford and Stone. The X1 goes to Stone though.

Smethwick West-Bit overgrown but still looks in pretty good nick. The lamp posts and shelters were still in situ last time I went through it (01/04/13)

Park station between Ashton and Manchester Victoria is similar. No picture I'm afraid but platforms and lampposts still in situ.

St Mary Church Road on the Cowbridge - Aberthaw line, which closed in 1930. It still has its signal box and even the Goods Shed survived until it blew down in a gale some years ago.

Ah memories! Is Ystradowen, on the Cowbridge-Pontyclun section still as well-preserved? IIRC it was in use as a timberyard.

Golden Grove and Dryslwyn stations on the old line between Llandeilo and Carmarthen are pretty intact. There's still an LNWR signal post at Golden Grove which was complete with signal arm until not that very long ago and the platforms and building are still there. And, as well as the station building I think the level crossing gates are still at Dryslwyn station.....a few years since I was last there.

It was still completely in situ about 2 years ago but has anyone seen it recently.?



A contender for one of the longest complete disused stations I would suggest was Ashford LC& DR station closed in 1899. For 100 years it had 4 platforms in situ, station buildings and track until it was demolished in 1999 for construction of CTRL1.

Judging by this (Google Maps link) the Low Level station buildings are still there, and possibly one of the platforms, but the western throat is now a Premier Inn and the other platforms are all gone. They've called the access road 'Broad Gauge Way' despite it being an Old Worse & Worse station, which was never broad gauge. :?

Halton (Lancs) has one platform and buildings still intact next to the Lune Valley trail.

And it still had a Way Out sign on the platform last time I went through it, as did Ramsline Halt.

After looking at some closed stations on the internet, I found out about Folkstone Harbour station. Closed completely in 2009, having lost regular passenger services in 2001. The buildings and platforms and 3rd rail are intact, just has the general appearance of a station is disrepair.

I first went to Folkestone Harbour in 1992 and it was in a state of disrepair then! The current state is the result of gradual natural decay over a protracted period of time.

Bishopsbourne just outside Canterbury on the old Elhan Valley line. It has been remarkably preserved, it closed in 1940. But the station building has been preserved and restored, both platforms are intact and there's even a signal (not sure if its original though ).
