So I can see a few options for commuting:
  • East Croydon - London bridge then Jubilee line
  • East Croydon - Farringdon then Elizabeth line
  • East Croydon - St Pancras then Javelin
Which route am I likely to get a seat? I guess Jubilee line is the least likely, with Javelin being the top?

2nd question ... on Thameslink where's the best carriage to get a seat at East Croydon between 0700 - 0800. On a 377 up to Victoria, in my experience coach 12 or 11 guarantees a seat.

1 and 2 will cost the same amount, 3 will be significantly more, especially if you use the DLR to get between the Stratfords.

No idea about seats, but the Elizabeth line would seem a better bet than the Jubilee.

At least the seats on Elizabeth line are better than Jubilee, but speed wise Jubilee is the best so I'll just suck it up for that short journey.

Maybe you would be most likely to get a seat on the Javelin but at a frequency of 3tph leaving London St Pancras, you really are best off doing Thameslink to Farringdon and then Elizabeth Line.

Head to the Middle of the Elizabeth Line train - almost all of the entrances and exits are at either end so the middle tends to be the quietest area

East Croydon - Farringdon then Elizabeth line will involve less walking as the change from Thameslink platforms to the Jubilee line at London Bridge isn't the shortest.

Jubilee Line has to be the worst option. Underground trains always packed. I reckon changing at Farringdon probably the best, considering its cheaper and more frequent than Javelin.

Probably Option 3, then 2, then 1 for seats. If we're talking peak time though it's unlikely there's going to be any difference between 2 and 1 because its unlikely you will get one. Even Elizabeth line will likely be standing room only, and if you do get a seat it will only be for a few minutes as it's only 3 stops to Stratford. Easiest interchange probably though.

Assuming you are coming back the same way a seat can be guaranteed at Stratford on the Jubilee Line if you don’t just jump on the back on the first train. But then London Bridge to East Croydon can be a bit more difficult as most fast trains come from further north. There are the Caterham and Tattenham Corner trains starting from London Bridge, but these are only over 30 mins when Thameslink should be more frequent.

My thinking re a seat on Thameslink going south from London Bridge would be head right to the rear, but you’ll be furthest from the main exit at East Croydon (which will be why it should be less crowded).

Elizabeth Line to Farringdon then Thameslink to East Croydon should guarantee a seat, but may require more walking esp if you choose to be towards the back of the Elizabeth Line train.

The icing on the cake would be to sit in 1st class for free on the Thameslink train, as long as you sit at the rear of train.

Although first class on thameslink isn't exactly anything that special unless you need a charging point or a table, and since a lot of regular users now know that it is declassified it can be busier than the rest of the train!

yah it looks busy these days! Sometimes I do spot free seats at East Croydon so I might have to wait a train or 2!
