EMU: 365, just for its slightly psychotic grin.
DMU: 158, fianl perfection of the Sprinter.
BMU: 755, love those but I am biased.

With regards to electric locos, I think 87s are quite nice to look at. It's a pity I've never seen one actually moving. By the time I was born they and 86s were beginning to be phased out.

Diesel: 37 in large logo, wrap around yellow ends, Highland Rail style

Electric: 86 in VT livery

DMU: IET in GWR - externally I think they look quite sleek. A particular favourite is the WW1 decorated one

EMU: 390 in original livery

Interesting you'd go with a Castle and not a King. I've always thought they looked more impressive.

Electric loco: the "flying badger" 89001.

DMU: Class 124 Trans-pennine units. Of units in use today, 158.
EMU: a three-way tie between 309, 442 and 333. 333s I guess win on a technicality because I could actually board one today!

That kind of reminds me of a more old fashioned and better looking D stock train. Or a class 230 to be more topical.

I'd completely forgotten about 332s/333s! Yeah I'd say they're up there with 390s and 397s for my favourite EMU designs.

Best Looking Contemporary Loco: You're having a laugh, the 68 has a trout-pout, and 66 and 67 look like Nissen huts.
Best Looking Contemporary EMU: Electrostars
Best Looking Contemporary DMU: Class 170 although the WMT Cif Cavities look like they could be OK and I do like the Flirts.
Best Looking Intercity Unit: LNER Class 800 family, that livery is bob on unlike the rehashed 1960 BR suburban DMU GWR doom green. Close runner up the Greater Anglia bionic bunny 745 intercity units which have an APT sort of look.

Just had my first ride on a Greater Anglia Flirt.
V good internally - feels and sounds like an EMU, with a tiny power car sandwiched between coaches 2 and 3.
Seats lining up with windows - check.
Customer information display that doesn’t flicker - check.
Extending step to give flat access to platform - check.

No first class, but with standard that good, who needs it?
