So sad to hear that Judith Durham, lead singer with The Seekers, has passed away. She had such a wonderful voice.

I saw The Seekers’ at their Farewell Concert in the Albert Hall in 2014 and I swear that when Judith sang ‘The Carnival is Over’ there was not a dry eye in the house.

Rest in Peace, Judith.

Yes. The Seekers' songs were anthems of their age, they accompanied me during the years of my early twenties with all their ups and downs.

Even now, whenever I hear Judith's beautiful voice I feel wet eyes coming on...

That 2014 50th Anniversary Farewell Tour was fantastic. I had the privilege to be there in Nottingham. I agree it was a very emotional occasion with not a dry eye in the house by the time they got to ‘The Carnival is over’. A friend of mine cried the whole way through the concert. I went wondering, as they in their 70’s whether they would still be any good and found that they were as good, if not better, than they had ever been. Judith’s voice was still wonderful even though she had recently recovered from a stroke. One of the most memorable concerts I have ever been to.

We'll never find another her. I grew up listening to The Seekers. Judith Durham, in my opinion, had the best voice of any singer anywhere, any time.

Meanwhile, the equally - but only equally - sad passing of Olivia Newton-John is headline news, all over the place. Go figure.

Meanwhile, the equally - but only equally - sad passing of Olivia Newton-John is headline news, all over the place. Go figure.

Because Olivia Newton-John appeared in a major Hollywood film, so was ‘Big in America’. Judith Durham just sang wonderfully; not that Olivia Newton-John was anything less than brilliant. However, nothing she sang could touch ‘The Carnival is Over’, but then, not much can?
