Hi

I am just looking at the above journy online. Return on Sun 30/12/2012 18:07 Skegness, with Arriva trains is £10.20, yet the Northern ticket prive is shown at £70.35

Perhaps I have done something wrong, just paid, the tickets are coming in the post.

Total for 1 adult and 1 child with ff card = £ 26.75

Do you mean that you bought the tickets from Arriva? I ask as Morely - Skegness goes nowhere near Wales. ;)

Are you retuning the same day?

That £26.75 looks like East coast & connections advance tickets, for which you must travel on the reserved East Coast portion of the journey. You can also only travel on the East Midlands service you are booked on (if applicable but don't have to if using a non-reservable train instead) you may how ever travel on any non-reservable train that connects to and from the East coast part, i.e. Northern Services.

The £70.35 tickets are 2 super off-peak singles (I think) and are valid all day at weekends as well as before 03:00 and after 09:30 Monday to Friday, you can also break your journey using these. However a super off-peak return is £40.70 (1 adult & child using railcard) and would allow you 1 month to return.

Also, for future reference, as it probably is an East coast ticket you would have got a slight discount if buying from their website.

Someone else I expect will explain it better than me.

Fares link to save pepole the bother.
