Hi Folks,

I notice the 10:57 Cardiff Central - Fishguard Harbour boat train now has additional stops on it's journey at Port Talbot Parkway, Pembrey & Burry Port, Kidwelly, Ferryside, Carmarthen, Whitland, Clarbeston Road, Fishguard & Goodwick and Fishguard Harbour.

I remember last time I rode the service it called only at Llanelli and Whitland and I believe was the only passenger service to use the Carmarthen avoiding line, I think it still goes via the Swansea District Line too.

Would this be to tempt more people to use the Fishguard services I wonder?, just curious really :)

Confused where you can see these extra stops, as both the NRT (Table 128) and Arriva Wales' timetables show the 1057 as calling at Llanelli, Whitland, Fishguard & Goodwick and Fishguard Harbour only.

The return working (1329) does also call at Carmarthen, but both use the Swansea District line.

This is special working for last week and this due to Engineering Blockade between Swansea and Llanelli to re-double track and replace Loughor viaduct.
There is a special Timetable in force and this would be to plug any gaps.

Network Rail will undertake essential maintenance work between Swansea, Gowerton and Llanelli, between Sunday 24 March and Sunday 7 April 2013.

This work is due to the replacement of the Loughor railway bridge and improvements to the rail infrastructure. No trains will operate between Swansea, Gowerton and Llanelli in either direction during this period.

Can triple-confirm these are special workings for the Loughor engineering works. The Fishguard Flyer lives on.

Incidentally (from experience) the SDR is usually only used on a weekday. On Saturdays we tend to go Landore Triangle way; not sure why though; unless it's just for route knowledge retention.
