More Problems on Brighton Main Line 31/01

Just a warning if you need to travel towards London from the South Coast. A train has broken down at Hassocks and is causing major delays.
From various Twitter sources I believe it is a FCC service.

Trains are being diverted via Lewes or Horsham, so allow extra time if you need to travel.

Apparently the brakes were locked on, heard od rescue 319 being sent wrong line from Wivelsfield to rescue it.

Most up services from Brighton are being sent via Lewes, being hampered a bit because of the long signalling headways between Lewes and Brighton.

Yes - all 16 coaches (including the rescue train) are on the move now!

There seem to have been some long delays in the core within the last hour or so, for example 10.37 from Brighton was on time from City Thameslink but 45 late from Farringdon, according to FCC website, with other (already delayed) northbound trains similarly delayed at Blackfriars. Reason given is "earlier broken down train", but I can't think what that has to do with a long wait in London unless it was being dragged all the way to the north of London and further problems encountered on the way.

Brighton to London commuters stranded for four hours

Does seem a long time to have to sit on a train waiting for recovery. However I guess there were quite a few hundred people on that service.

It was "fun" this morning when the passengers for the broken train and the two trains via Redhill stuck behind it all tried to bundle into the 4 coaches left out of the 24 normally arriving.
