Dead or Alive singer and former Celebrity Big Brother star Pete Burns has died after suffering a 'massive' cardiac arrest, aged 57.

Bobby Vee, best known for hits including Rubber Ball, Take Good Care of My Baby and The Night Has a Thousand Eyes, has died at the age of 73.

'Take Good Care of My Baby' was one of the first records I ever bought, on the London record label, though I never bought any others. I seem to remember he performed with the Crickets backing group after their singer Buddy Holly was killed in an aircrash.

Rest In Peace Pete Burns.

Very sad to hear of his death whilst eating our dinner earlier on this evening. Pete Burns was a true eccentric and You Spin Me Round on vinyl is one of my most treasured possessions, bought way back in 1984 whilst I was a student in Manchester.

I'm not too sure that Pete would want a decidedly uncool middle aged couple listening to his wonderful record but tonight listen we did, many times in fact!

Rest In peace Pete Burns.

There have been so many passings over the past year, it seemed to start with Cilla Black last August. I did not know about Pete Burns until reading this.

One of the DJs on the Pirate Ships in the 1960s then moved onto Radio One, commercial and BBC Local Radio also passed away a few days ago, I was only listening to him on Radio Sussex a few days before that.

Indeed, I don't think anybody in the world knows how Lemmy made it to 70. Keith Richards, Joe Walsh and Ozzy Osbourne are similar cases, though they packed it in long ago you do wonder how they made it through the 1970s.

I want him to go precisely because I am a Beatles fan!

However, once he's gone, there will be no temptation to wheel him out at events like the 2012 Olympics opening, a BRILLIANT occasion which he spoiled.

He's long past his best (which was around 1969), and an embarrassment. However, we should be very grateful we aren't having to put up with a 76 year old John Lennon as well. That would just be too much.





Obviously I am being facetious, and if you're reading this and getting wound up by posts like this, I suggest you take a walk outside, where hopefully it'll be nice.

Not at all, it's just a very odd thing to say. I agree he's well beyond his best and Lennon would probably be a bit of a pain if he was still around, but I'd rather they were just encouraged to call it a night rather than actually cease to be alive!

That is hardly surprising, at least one member of all of those groups is already dead and by 2030 most of them will be well into their 80s!

Which one? I listened to all the pirate stations so I think I'd recognise the name.

P.S. Chuck Berry has just made a new album aged 90. I saw him, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis on the same bill in the early 1960s and they're all still alive, I'm happy to say.

I'm really sad to hear that. He formed a great partnership with Kenny Everett (much better known, even all these years after his death) on Radio London, called, if memory serves the 'Kenny and Cash Show', but it's aeons since I last heard of him.

They did of course have the funds to access the finest medical treatment available. They were not your average junkie.

Indeed, however the volumes involved and the time it took some of them to get there does still make it noteworthy: Joe Walsh did alcohol and cocaine at pretty much every opportunity for twenty five years with no intervention and he somehow has lived to tell the tale. Ozzy Osbourne has probably taken ever substance known to mankind and is a similar tale.

I agree that the quantities are astonishing. However I do wonder whether some people have been a little bit economical with the truth in order to sell books etc.
