More French strikes

It appears that the CGT union has today called for a strike from the 7th - 11th October, see this useful website*: http://www.easytravelreport.com/

Word from a couple of contacts who have spoken to people in France say that there is, however, little appetite for industrial action at the moment and there should be rather more than the legal minimum strike day service operating.

A similar ( 36 hour ) strike last week apparently had very little effect.



*Yes, I think that website could list things more clearly - I'd prefer a date based layout and for past strikes to be removed from the page for clarity but it does seem very comprehensive and quite easy to use once you've worked out which country is where in each column.

What is so ridiculous is that the unions are now striking for the opposite reason to the reason for striking a few years ago!

To report back, the strike effects seemed to be confined to RER Line C on Wednesday and RER Line B on Friday; the minimum service appears to be roughly one third of the normal service.

An hour long signal failure ( track circuits, I think? ) between Bibliotheque and Austerlitz on Thursday morning in the peak caused far more disruption to RER C that the strike did! Having said that, they did very well to recover to a normal service in time for the evening peak.

There was a picket line blocking off the bus station in Toulouse yesterday but train services were running normally (fortunately as i was going to ax les thermes) Most buses seemed to be running but not using the bus station.
