With the lakeside café at Thorne North isolated for a while The Mallard Café at he old station building at Moorthorpe makes a good alternative (0630-1800)
With the junction and loops, seats, toilets and even a nice grassy bank to sit on- Two XC, Three NT and Two freights in half an hour.
Moorthorpe is well worth a visit.
Despite being in West Yorkshire the SYPTE Day tripper ticket (£6.60) is valid here and at nearby South Elmsall- but probably not at the station bus stop.
