I can't find anything recent on this so want to get the latest views.

Would I have any problem using a Wakefield to Moorethorpe ticket to South Elmsall or any variation of that return journey?

For anyone unfamiliar these are two stations in the same town that fork out of the junction just north. They are that close fares are unavailable between the two and between them form a nice half hourly service to Wakefield and beyond to Leeds.

I'm sure there must be commuters who use them interchangeably but don't want to risk trying it on if not.

Happy to be corrected, but think you might need an additional single between Fitzwilliam and Moorthorpe (or between Fitzwilliam and South Elmsall, as the case may be), depending on what exact return ticket(s) you have when leaving from Wakefield and whether you're going to Moorthorpe or South Elmsall first. Cheaper option might therefore just be two x £4.50 Anytime Day Singles, one each way, for example Wakefield->Moorthorpe and South Elmsall->Wakefield.
