Hi First time poster can anybody clear up the following or can confirm its correct.
I was travelling from Ware - Stratford on any permitted route for £15.20 id go through liverpool street and get on a train back out or the underground because the ticket had the maltese cross.
Yesterday i got a monthly travel ticket from Ware - Stratford via any permitted route for £283.80. This is the ticket i was advised to get but LU staff will stop you from getting on the underground with this ticket. Why?
Pricing the route on a 20 day working month on prices from national rail website this is what you get:
Daily Ticket with Underground: £15.20 *5 = £76 Weekly x 4 = £304 monthly
Weekly Ticket with underground: £90.40 x 4 = £361.60 monthly
Monthly with Underground: £347.20 Monthly
Turns out buying daily tickets are infact cheaper eben though they advertise that season tickets are.
Just to add to the confusion an anytime return ticket to Liverpool Street was priced at £15.70 and an anytime return to Startford via any permitted route was only priced at £15.20 so if you wanted to go Liverpool Street you could get the stratford Ticket and get out at liverpool street as normal saving 50p per day. Its over £100 per year.
I called greater anglia and they advised me that on the monthly ticket i have i am able to use the underground even though there is no maltese cross and they actually informed me that if i buy the Ware to London Terminals monthly ticket via any permitted route at £252.00 then you can use this to travel onto stratford via national rail or underground.
They refunded the £31.00 difference in national rail vouchers.
Also they did state that the price is wrong and the stratford anytime day return would be changed to £15.70 in line with the Liverpool Street one now. Still that is only £314 which is over £30 cheaper per month than what they are trying to charge.
I hope its not to confusing and does anyone have a similar experience on this line or can anyone confirm the above especially around the £252 monthly ticket.
Cheers guys.
