Its the time of year again that no one has money and companies are trying to get you to swap old phones, cds, dvds for cash. My question is what do that companies do with these products, what do they do with an old cd??

They clean them up replace broken jewel casing and then sell them on. Usually for about 300% markup.

There is a 'Cash 4 Clothes' style place near me that is paying roughly £2.50 per bin bag for clean clothing. Next to the counter are some cardboard POS bins full of hats and scarves they are now selling for £1 each. I reckon there's nearly 1000% markup there.
