Yes that was my observation (I was there on Saturday from about 11.00 until 14.00). There appeared to be more trade stands than layouts.
Yeah I was there 13:00 until the end, although I did chat to some people I know at a trade stall for ages and had a break in the middle and went around filming again.

Looking to go to Abingdon this weekend (2nd/3rd March 2024).

== Doublepost prevention - post automatically merged: ==

...went to Abingdon today and spent nigh on 4 hours wondering around - a really good range of layouts, and busy, but not so bad that you couldn't get right in to see the layouts up close - so much nicer than something like Milton Keynes which was Uber rammed.

Some excellent stuff - particularly enjoyed Baijao (industrial China, not only for the train length and the sound), Norge (how do they do the moving chickens?!) - but generally some super layouts, and always some great attention to detail. Very much recommended.

I thought I’d leave this at the top of the page as on top of sharing information about exhibitions it could be a good way of meeting fellow like minded forum members from time to time.

1st one on the list from me is the Stafford Show next weekend (22nd and 23rd of September):

We’ll be there with Moors View, so please come and say hello if you’re attending. :)
Ooh! Day after my birthday. I'll definitely try and come along.

Might consider attending the Chatham exhibition. Do you know if the Maidstone group will be having one on the 'awkward week' between Xmas and New Year this year? The one last year was rather good for a local show:).

Maidstone is running a event on the 28th/29th December. Also Rapido are running a event on the 27th/28th September at the same location.

So who's going to the remaining model railway shows this year?

We've got GETS at Milton Keynes on October 12th/13th. Peter Waterman's Making Tracks 4 will be here and zim looking forward to seeing that.

Warley in its new guise at Statfold Barn is the same weekend but hopefully this will be a different date next year. I'd love to visit this excellent railway soon.

October 26th and 27th is the Great British Model Railway Show at Gaydon Which is pretty local to me. It's the show I'd go to if I can't get time off for GETS. Plenty to see and some great layouts.

National Festival of Railway Modelling is in November at the NEC (Hall 5) on the 23rd/24th November. Loads of layouts, loads of traders and some I'm going to nake a bee-line for.

2 miles and 50 years away from the Longmoor Milita
And a smaller sized exhibition, the annual South Hampshire Model Railway Club's show on 16th November.

I had hoped to visit it for the first time, this year. My wife won the toss, though, with early Christmas shopping. In New York.
@Cowley if you're still operating Moors View there, good luck and I'm gutted I won't be able to pop in to say hello. Our flight leaves mid-Saturday.

Next weekend is Stafford Exhibition
2024
Stafford Railway Circle Annual Model Railway Exhibition 28/29 September 2024
Saturday 28 September 2024 and Sunday 29 September 2024
Saturday: 10.00 – 17.00
Sunday: 10.00 – 16.30
Admission Prices:

Adult: £17, accompanied children under 16 free.

Family – up to 2 + 2 £25 (SUNDAY ONLY)

At Stafford County Showground in Bingley Hall.

The County Showground is situated 3 miles to the east of the town on the A518 in the direction of Uttoxeter.

This year the show will build on the success of the 2023 show and the almost 60 years experience of running this show. The Stafford Model railway Exhibition is now the largest independent exhibition in the country.

The good news is we will continue to use the main Bingley Hall at the Stafford County showground which provides more space and much better facilities.

Sat Nav postcode: ST18 0BD

Extended free parking.

Excellent. That's one that looks worth checking out, although I doubt my wallet would forgive me...

If my cough has gone I hope to get there on Saturday: it is just about at the limit of my travelling distance. If you see someone looking like a down-and-out approaching, it may well be me.

If anyone wants a ticket for GETS for either Sat or Sun for free, message me on here. I can't go, but bought advance tickets for both days.......

Liverpool and West Lancs ‘O’ gauge group - Open Day - Sat, 16th Nov.

We will be holding an open day on Saturday 16th November 2024 from 10am-4pm. (Suggested last admission 3pm.) Admission is free but cash donations would be welcomed. Light refreshments available. All four of our layouts will be available and visitors are welcome to bring O-gauge stock and locomotives to run. We can accommodate 3-rail, 2-rail, DC and DCC.

It is anticipated that there will be some small demonstrations of electronic/computer applications in model railways from the Merseyside Area Group of MERG (The Model Electronic Railway Group), which meets monthly at Lawlogg.
