No, not enough N gauge for me
I didn't manage to get to this years N gauge show (I typically attend every second year)
I'm going to be putting a new meaning on "Model Rail Live", when I put my layout videos in place
The layout was originally planned to attend exhibitions, then I had the radical idea of having it available through videos and live streaming sessions
I am now putting the finishing touches to the DCC and scenic area, the design, purchase of rolling stock and construction of the fiddle yards having taken me last 4 years
Hopefully it will be completed in bare format next month, so at least trains are running (properly)

I am planning on a visit on Saturday, hopefully to pick myself a bargain or two up, and to get some shots of the preserved 58.
Any idea how much of the outside area will be accessibly? I have only been on beer festival days, and understandably most of the yard a closed off.

Sorry I'm afraid I don't know the answer, but I would think it unlikely that the commercial area will be accessible.
In can however confirm that shuttles will be taking place, with a Peckett steam loco, 30777 Sir Lamial, 61994 The Great Marquee and 55019 Royal Highland Fusilier operating there, and a former GWR Sentinel from the Buck Railway Centre on brake vans.

Visited the event yesterday and it was rammed, great event though.
As mentioned before I have only visited Barrow Hill on beer festival days, so it was nice to be able to get round more of the yard this time, as usual there was various traction around to take a look at, plenty of steam in the roundhouse, and lovely to see almost every lane full, including the preserved electrics and class 58.In the yard the steamers Sir Lamial and The Great Marquees were looking good running up and down amongst the class 20s, 37s, 56s, and 47s along with the guest 66.
The only downside was that to gain access to the roundhouse everyone had to pass through the main traders marquee, which was tightly packed with stalls. I know the idea is to have people pass through there to encourage them to make a few purchases (which I did) but it seemed to be rammed full of people all day, and began to get pretty stuffy in there. Id suggest either a separate access directly to the roundhouse or to have a slightly bigger marquee with some sort of area kept aside to let people get through who did not want to look at the traders stalls.
As I say, it was only a small problem, and didn't really bother me much as I was looking round all the stalls, but it could do with addressing should the event be repeated next year.
Very well done to all involved, a great event and I will be back next year if you are!
PS, very happy with my purchase of ViTrains limited edition West Coast Railways 37 & 47 double pack, amongst other things!

I went today not so busy as saturday as someone told me there was 4000 through yesterday. Was great to see such a variety of stock there, plus it being my first time at barrow hill. Picked up a few bargains along the way too
