Mock Trainee Train driver assessment course

It is to my understanding that there are a number of companies that offer a Trainee train Driver assessment one day course, most notably How2become. This to help candidates prepare and get a understanding on how assessment days are conducted and what to expect when successful for a number of TOCs/FOCs.
My question is has anyone experienced from these one day assessment courses and if they have any relevant feedback that may benefit any potential candidates wishing to apply for any potential future Trainee Train Driver vacancies. Are these courses worth while attending forgetting about the fees that would have to be paid before attending.

I'll second that. Theory and knowledge wise, you can get all that and more online. When it comes to your mental aptitude, no amount of course time can give you that - you have it in you or you don't. Save your money.

I considered this as well. The question I had was bearing in mind the top secret nature of what constitutes a pass mark, how useful can they be

You will get more out of using the search function on this forum and the practice materials through your TOC/FOC.

the tests, test your ability. If you dont have the ability then your not going to pass. Thats just my opinion. No course can train abilty. The forum and the book helped me. The book was usefull for interview questions for me personally.

Don't waste your money.

There is plenty of info available on the internet. Forums like this one contain all the info you need to prepare.

I am not bragging but personally I found the tests very easy they are really nothing to worry about probably the AVAT with the short clips was the hardest as it was so quick

The bit I found truely tough was the MMI you need strong examples there and you don't get them from buying some book

Can you remember any of the questions and provide any advice what there are looking for. I have heard STAR method comes into plat and also safety safety safety

The star method is the way they want you to structure your answers. Be honest you either have evidence of competence or you don't.

I was contemplating this, but as I passed my drivers assessment last Friday, I realised I had saved money. There is no guarantee that you would do the course, then pass the actual TOC assessment afterwards.
