It doesn't have to be a driving licence, there could be a mobility scooter licence, just to show you are able to control it, and as something that can be taken away if you are reckless or dangerous when using it.

Some of the people on these things are little more than a threat to themselves and everyone else. If they are incapable of using them correctly, they should not have one at all!

Something i happily agree with although i am sure organisations such as age concern will come up with ways that it is a bad idea.

I know.

Make part of the test a walk of 200 yards to get on the scooter.

Then make the ability to do the walk proof that it is not needed, so if they can walk that far, they fail the test

The trouble is, there simply aren't enough teenagers and young people tearing around the streets on these scooters.

All it would take would be a few wealthy parents to stop taking their kids to school in a 4x4 and buy them an "Ipad Generation" Scooter.

Within a short while there would be demands from various action groups demanding that "something be done"...

Mobility Scooters ****** things should be banned, speed limited, have seats with spikes sticking up out of the seats.

Got hit again today in Tescos...... Nothing wrong with the old biddy driving it and I got a mouthful of abuse for "getting in her way as she had to be at her fitness class in 10 minutes".

I was staring at the back of the scooter when I was asked what I was up to - my answer "Looking for the self destruct switch on the scooter"

Damn the whole lot of them. Made sure that a note went into the incident book at the store.

Wish there was a level crossing for her to negotiate on her way to her fitness class....
