On Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd October the Mid Norfolk Railway will be holding a "Multiple Matters" weekend, all services being operated by DMUs.

East Midlands Trains will be providing a class 158 unit on both days (a different unit both days). The intention is that on Saturday morning the class 158 operates a service train from Norwich to Dereham, and then a evening service from Dereham to Norwich - this is the intention also for sunday. Special tickets will be available for the service from Norwich - Wymondham / Dereham.

Greater Anglia are hoping to be able to release a class 156 for this event too but as yet it is not set in stone and may not happen.

Hopefully 55009 (class 122109) will make an appearance running with in a hybrid formation with the DMCL + TSL of L836 class 101 Vehicles. The hybrid formation is all in place and as follows: Dereham end (55009 + 59117 + 51503) Wymondham end. Please note: 55009 will NOT carry passengers.

Please see link for more info: http://www.mnr.org.uk/calendar/events/multiplematters/

Looks very good, might have to pop over for that, plus a cheap way to get the mainline connection in :D

Please note that the through EMT 158 services from Norwich to Dereham and v.v. WILL NOT CALL at Wymondham Mainline Station for passenger purposes in either directon.

MNR Fares

Passengers travelling over the MNR from Wymondham Abbey Halt to Dereham
pay the normal MNR standard fares: Adult £10 Return, Child (Under 16) £5,
Seniors £9, or may take advantage of the Rover Fares available for the event:

Adult Day Rover £15
Child Day Rover £7.50
Members Day Rover £10

Adult Weekend (2-day) Rover £25
Child Weekend (2-day) Rover £12.50

So for a through Adult Return from Norwich to Dereham the fare adds up to £20. For those that just require travel from Norwich to traverse the trailing crossover at Wymondham and then the non-passenger MNR section to Abbey Halt it's £10 Return, £5 Single.

National Rail Tickets, National Railcards, BR/ATOC Free & Privilege Tickets, MNR Local Residents' Railcards and MNR Members Tickets are not valid on the special EMT through services between Norwich & Wymondham Abbey Halt. The MNR does not participate in the BR/ATOC or HRA Travel Schemes.

I doubt it, I'm guessing you can buy on train or at the station prior to departure.

Flat fares from Norwich to Wymondham Abbey Halt are £5 Single and £10 Day Return. Tickets will be available on the day on a first come-first served basis and sold as you board the train (if joining at Norwich) and from the MNR Ticket Offices at Wymondham Abbey Halt and Dereham. Normal MNR fares will apply in addition to the Flat Fares to and from Norwich for those travelling onwards from Wymondham Abbey Halt over the MNR to Dereham, as well as for those who may be starting their journeys at Dereham.

The MNR is also offering one and two day Rover Tickets for the weekend - these offer unlimited travel, including aboard the EMT 158 worked services, between Wymondham Abbey Halt and Dereham, but do not cover the EMT services over the section between Norwich and Wymondham Abbey Halt, where the flat fares shown above are payable.

I hope this clarifies things!

Does this mean they are limiting the number of tickets being issued for the 158 beyond Wymondham Abbey ?

All normal MNR tickets, including Rovers, will be valid on the EMT 158 worked services between Wymondham Abbey Halt and Dereham and v.v. - only subject to the seating capacity of the unit.
We are hoping that some local people will come along for the unusual ride as well as the dedicated enthusiasts, so its very hard to say what demand might be like on the day.

Just got back from the gala, very enjoyable day out, well done to everyone who organised and help it be such a success even if we were half an hour late at one point...
