Trying to get from Leicester to Sheffield today and notice that the 1212 (?) departure hasn't yet reached Luton and doesn't have a ETA yet.

Can I go via Birmingham on my ticket or is that not a Permitted Route?

Because it's a Sunday, I don't use Twitter, I'm currently walking to the station so thought I would get an answer on here?

I'm not sure email is the most effective option here, given it's >30 mins until timetabled departure and it's a Sunday...

Well they have updated it now and it has a 35 minute delay on it. Can live with that.

EMT live update shows 1212 departure expected to leave Leicester at 1251 platform 2, so should have left already, next is 1317 showing on time

A Cross Country set has just come through the station with destination Aberdeen, next stop Chesterfield. Any ideas why it's come via Leicester and also why isn't it stopping at Derby?

Burton-Derby line closed for engineering work.
As far as I can see the diverted XC services are calling at Derby.

Ah ok.

The 1212 from Leicester to Sheffield is being terminated early at Chesterfield and passengers were suggest to get off there and wait for the next EMT service which was only five mins behind. Decided to get off at East Mids Parkway instead to do the change as to finally get a seat!

For future reference, tickets from Leicester to Sheffield are not ordinarily valid via Birmingham. I'm on a phone at present so can't check whether they were before the great permitted route cull of 2013

Even if I had gone via Birmingham, given the Burton-Derby line was closed on Sunday I would have ended up coming back through Leicester the exact same way I came no doubt!
