MML New Year closure

I have just noticed that the MML will be closed south of Bedford on 1st and 2nd January and a replacement bus services running, one between Bedford and East Midlands Parkway.

Do any board members know what work is being done, perhaps Flitwick Jct?

The line is closed between Bedford and EMP - Flitwick is south of Bedford so not that :P - I think it might be for track replacement, but dont quote me on that.

The main purpose of the block is to enable the closure of Leicester PSB and recontrol to Derby, hence the length of the affected section. Whether there's any p-way work planned too (or indeed whether any other work is possible without disrupting the environment that the S&T require for testing) I don't know.

Thanks for that tomnick, sorry about getting the closure the wrong way round, blame it on the booze.
So I guess that the closure (partial or full) covers Sharnbrook to North of Loughborough

Leicester box only lasted about 30 years then?

I don't know what the arrangements are Gus, but the block would have to be as you suggest, plus as far west as Nuneaton (Croft SB is going too), and east to beyond Frisby (so presumably XC will run as far as Melton). Leicester PSB is certainly very short-lived!

hell of a bus journey that, does that stop at all stations on route?
even non stop would be over an hour and a half by bus between Bedford and EMP
Going via Wellingborough Kettering Mk Harb, Leics loughbrough would take about 4 hours:roll:
Cant see the Oakham line going PSB from Derby any time soon Far too many manual LCs
Take it Narborough LC will now be CCTV from Derby then instead of Croft

Only if you are so anal you feel the need to constantly refer to station codes. You must be a halfwit if you can't work out EMP means East Midlands Parkway. Much like the irritating no hopers that pipe up whenever someone calls Birmingham New Street BNS, as it's been known for decades.

If it's obvious, there's probably no need to say it.

Given that East Midlands Parkway was named in full in the original post (i.e. the one before the reference to EMP), I certainly won't lose any sleep over the possibility of getting on a bus to Emerson Park by accident - especially as the works, and the last relevant post, are (were) now dead and buried!
