MMI Stuck on one question!

Hey,

I have a question. I have my MMI soon and I know the 6 questions tend to be roughly similar for everyone. There’s one I'm slightly struggling with and that is:

1. Name a time when you were on a course that was over two weeks.


I’ve not really ever been on one and I’ve seen this question asked as also “or your greatest achievement” so I hope that’s what happens.

Does anyone have any advice?

This question is looking at a longer period of learning.
The Part A (Classroom part) of the drivers course is 12-13 weeks duration.
It’s asking you to demonstrate how you will manage the demands of the course.

You may need to be away from home for the course for example….
How will you cope with learning again.

So an example of any sort of school or university or college courses
Any adult learning…
Any work based training courses
Any skills / trades / apprenticeships

Did you stick at it? - Don’t say NO!
What challenges did you face?
How did you overcome them?
Why was the course important to you?
What was the result of the course?
Were your family supportive?
How did you learn / revise yet also recognise the need to have time away from study.

Etc etc etc

No, it's asking for an example of you learning something over a period of greater than 2 weeks.

As above, it's because the driver course is a long period of fairly intense learning.

There are loads of possible examples - GCSEs, A levels, university, driving lessons, work training courses, learning a foreign language etc.

Have you ever learned to play an instrument? Learned to swim late in life? Something that required perseverance and effort?

I used a home learning course and just went into detail about how I fit it in to my daily routine, broke it down into smaller chunks so I could still concentrate after finishing work etc - passed that one.

Use the training for your current job! They don’t care what you talk about as long as you can tell them why you completed the training, how well you did to complete the course, how you overcame obstacles you faced, why you’re effectively amazing at learning new things!

Just wondering if anyone can give some advice on the Mmi? How do they structure the question, best way of answering and how to answer their interjections? Should you structure your answer in advance or is it more conversation style? What keywords do you think they’re looking for? If anyone is able to DM me that would be great!

Theres no way of structuring because you don't know what they'll ask and in what order.

You should answer all your questions using the STAR method to keep answers short and to the point.

Also I know there's questions on here but they do slightly alter the wording so make sure you answer the question you're asked, not the question example you've researched.

This is very good advice, your verbal communication is also assessed in the interview and if you're not answering the question asked then you're not communicating well!

I’ve sent you a message, do you think you’d be able to tell me which questions you were asked on the day (if you remember of course) so I’m able to get practicing? And any hints and tips that helped you? I think the main thing is knowing what they’re looking to hear in the answers, and the words they find valuable etc.

I've done 2 different MMI, the questions are similar but worded differently so if you're preparing questions in advance but the wording is slightly different you're going to have to adapt your answer to the question either way.

It's a good guide to format your answer but you should answer the question they ask on the day as both mine were similar but worded completely differently.

Any helpful tips or key things you know they’re looking for, or key words and abilities they’re listening for would be great to hear! If you passed, what was it like on the day? What do you wish you knew beforehand?

They are looking for clear examples in the STAR format of scenarios you have experienced in the past which demonstrate transferable skills for the role. Only tip I could give is be honest as they will dive deeper in every answer.

Does anyone have or know tge list of questions they ask you to fill out before going in ? Would really appreciate as i have MMI coming up
