Hi there
I have an MMI interview for train driver soon and I was wondering if I could change the examples I have given on the assesment day.i am just not happy with them.thanks a lot

Yes you can change them

Conversely, the OPC staff can also ask for a different example if your first answer isn't strong enough. This is to help you, not catch you out.

Yes. Just tell them as soon as you start going through the example etc..they have most likely prepared some questions etc on the situation you have given.

It's really just expanding on your examples and they can ask you how you felt in those situations and would you do things different in hindsight. All the best.

I know how you are feeling. I am currently sitting in a Doncaster hotel room doing last minute prep for my full assessment day tomorrow. I think I'm prepared for the tests but I allways struggle with purely down to nerves lol.

Good Luck Cusaeng, I'm sure you'll do well! I am down on Tuesday!! Any tips, hints or advice you might have for me after tomorrow would be amazing!

Best of luck to all... just relax, be yourselves and give as much detail in your examples as you can. If your answers are detailed they won't probe too much beyond that. I was surprised how little else I was asked beyond the examples I had given. Try not to be too nervous, I enuinely didn't find it to be the scary horrible experience many people had told me it would be. Let us know how you all get on ??????

I agree with Max287 above. Admittedly I can only speak from my experience and the assessor I had but I did not find it to be the intense nerve wracking experience many will have you believe. The most relevant advice I saw on here which was entirely true is to give examples that have depth to them and that you are willing (and able) to go in to as they will probe you on it. For example on one of my answers he asked me what street in Liverpool I was on for the incident and specifically where I was standing. It's not to be mean or anything like that however they want to know that you are speaking the truth and. An demonstrate the competencies required without having a need to embellish anything...which would indicate you do not have the experience required.
I found it to be a relaxing interaction because I knew what answers I wanted to give so it was more like a conversation. So as long as you are prepped and not intending to "wing it" you will be absolutely fine. Good luck!

Are the mmi's on a one to one format?. That might not be so bad ??????. I don't know why I get nervous in interviews. I work for the police and deal with emergencies all day long taking in to consideration the safety of my colleagues and the public and have no problem speaking to indervuals or groups with authority but for some reason interviews are just not my thing.

Might just pretend I'm at court and see if that helps ??????

There is no way anyone can post the mmi interview and all the probing questions unless they're an OPC assessor.

Go in there answer their questions honestly and if you demonstrate the competencies needed to pass you will.

If you show them quickly you could be out in around 25 mins or you could be in there for an hour an a half.

The Bourdon I found the easiest of all them.
The sounds are much faster then what I practiced so u need to really concentrate.do as much as u can of the dials and fault finding.i pass the faults only with 8.ASK and ASK if u confused.i didn't get the dials at the begging so I ask and the lovely gentlemen explained very well.
The first part of the assesment is the worse then it gets easier

Hi Julia. I had the full assessment day today. I kind of wish it had been broken up by my toc but then again I'm happy it was all over and done with in one day.
As for the mmi I wouldn't worry about it too much. For me at db it was a one on one interview and I found it much more relaxing than a standard job interview.
The probing questions I was asked all seemed relevant to the questions.
They were along the lines of what would you do if you saw someone breaking the rules and a lot of how would that make you feel.

The interview lasted less the 30min,I struggle with one question and they probe me a lot but the rest of the question was good with little probing.It was very relaxed interview not scary at all.????????????????????????

It lasted less then 30min and it was very relax.

Well done to all that passed....really is a case of sometimes the thought of these interviews genuinely is worse than the interview itself..... but there's definitely no harm in having nerves. I'd rather be that way than going in there over confident.
