Good afternoon,

I need to book a return ticket from MKC to Leeds. I am easy on outbound timings or routes ( via london would be nice!:D) but on the way back i cant leave Leeds until 1630. I am happy to change trains and use any operator or combination of operators ( with XC voyager operated services bottom of the list!)

I need to travel out on the 3rd of July and back on the 4th of July. The best standard return is £83.50 and i cant seem to beat that but dont really understand the system.

Can anyone suggest a cheaper fare - thanks!

Use Midland Mainline and see if you can get Megatrain between Bedford and Leeds, then use the Marston Vale line back to Bletchley and a quick hop up to MKC on a seperate ticket.

In addition to that, much as the Marston Vale line is quite pleasant, it's also very slow. I wouldn't fancy using it as part of a long-distance journey!

I can't find any useful splits either....can anyone else?

Erm....
£23 AP MKC - MAN 1007
£9 AP MAN - LDS 1202 or 1302
£9 or £7 AP LDS - MAN most afternoon services
£18.50 AP MAN - MKC 1955 (And a few others)

or MAN - LDS as a SVR for £18.40

Between £59.50 and £57.50 return... And about 3 hours with fast changes, or you can hang about a bit in Manchester.

Derby - Leeds SVR 29.40

total 62.20. I will carry on looking as there must be something better

Well a return to St Neots on the X5 bus is £11.60 and a superoff peak thence to Leeds is £60 - and a few advances are available to bring that down a bit

Though connecting to the last X5 on the Monday is a bit tight. You could still get to Bedord and the last train from St Johns though if it came to it

How much is a 3 in 7 East Mids these days? Choice of routes to Sheffield then onward tickets from there.

Fear it might have increased by some margin since I last purchased one though!
