On Saturday I am off to Droylsden to watch Darlo play and whilst I have worked out a decent fare for the outbound journey via LM to Stoke & XC Stockport) I cant seem to beet a £21.50 advance fare on the 18:15 service return leg. Can anyone offer any advice? I am travelling alone with no railcards.

Also, before I book it I am wondering how long the tram takes from Droylesden to Piccadilly? If the match finishes at 17:00 will I make that 18:15 service? it doesnt look far from the ground to the tram stop.

You're looking about 20-25 minutes from Piccadilly with the ground literally 5 minutes walk from the Droylsden stop. Might be a bit of a nightmare if Man City are at home on the same day though.

Cheers - It is an international wekeend which means no PL games - hence there being advances left so late in the day.

Get yourselves to a non league game instead ;)

If you don't mind a longer journey time you could save about £7

1827 MAN - STA 1925 £8.80
1951 STA - MKC 2134 £7.00

But splitting on the 1815 you mentioned doesn't make it cheaper.

I am still trying to get used to the fact that the League can be halted for anything other than cup games. When I realised that there would be no games this weekend yesterday, I instinctively looked at the League Cup fixtures list to see what is going on. :p

There is still a £7 ticket on LM on the 1928 from Stoke, changing at Northampton. Various options are available to Stoke for under £10.
