MK4 Grounding C1998

I can understand, given how new the 91s were at the time - but what you would give for something similar today!

It would be great and who knows what in todays railways turn up! Who knows if it had happened while Natex still had the route we may have ended up with stuff that works out of Liverpool St or Fenchurch St instead of them having to higher in off other operators.

Had a quick look at my photo last night but had no date on it looks like trawl through my old spot books. The only thing I can say is that it would have probably been a Saturday.

If it was a Saturday, then they would not be standing in for 91s+mk4s


If its any help, Sandy happend on the 16th June 1998 and all the replacments happend the following day on Wednesday 17th June 1998.

My photos ( in the rare pictures thread ) of the 321/9s at King's Cross were taken on Saturday 20th June 1998. This was definitely a Mk4 substitution; it took several days to check them all and get them all running again.

Blimey, wouldn't fancy doing KGX to Leeds on 321's! Must have been a bit different for the drivers, compared to doing the usual Donny-Leeds route

Thats a 321/9 the type that Northern use on the Leeds to Doncaster route. And the same type that ran the KGX to Leeds services during the Mk4 grounding.

Take it you wouldn't have fancied travelling on North Western Trains' service from Manchester to London via the Trent Valley on a 322 either?
