Just curious - has anyone else noticed that the water temperature for hand washing in the sinks in mk3 HST toilets seems to be a good bit warmer than that in mk4 toilets?
Is this by design?

The best temp water I've come across on a train - where it's plenty hot enough to wash effectively - is on the lowly Pacer. Conversely, it surprises me that the modern 185 fails to dispense water more than lukewarm.
Indeed, it's a psychological thing that hot water is better - but nevertheless, washing hands in warm water feels better than in cold, especially in the winterThere's no need for water to be hot or even lukewarm to wash effectively. NHS Infection Control guidelines were altered a couple of years ago to reflect this.
Washing hands in cold water with soap is just as effective as washing them in warm/hot with soap at removing bugs.
The Chiltern mk3 stock has actual airblades fitted so it can be done.
I've found the Pendolino dryer to be quite powerful, it's just infuriating that you have to have your hands in exactly the right place to activate them and they cut out if you move so much as a millimetre from the sensor!
Following the Eastbourne carriage fire a couple of years ago the dryers in Electro/Turbostars were disabled. This still appears to be the case in many units with piles of paper towels left on the side of the sink (GA Turbostars immediately spring to mind, I don't know if they got sorted during refurbishment though)
