Somewhere between Waverley and Queen Street.
I saw a photo of this. Maroon mk2 with grey primer on the ends and roof.

I saw a very similar mk2 at Bridge of Dun coupled to their new Thumper. It might be the same carriage?

It was Derby-built mk2 TSO 5188. You saw it being transported from Bridge of Dun to the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland at Whitehead in County Antrim. Presumably it went via Cairnryan?

Apparently it is to be retrofitted with centrally locking doors so that it can join the society's mainline fleet.

Indeed, here is the link from the RPSI's website.

The latest arrival (18th August 2022) at Whitehead is coach BR fleet number 5188, a 64 seater Tourist Standard Open standard Mk2z design vehicle built in 1966. It is fitted with steam heating and vacuum braked, but requires a Secondary Door Locking system to be fitted. The vehicle, in overall good internal and external condition, was acquired from the Caledonian Railway at Brechin, being surplus to their operating needs.
The carriage is of similar design to our carriages 301 (5207) and 302 (5135), except that both toilets have been removed leaving an extended lobby at one end.
The coach ran with Scotrail until the 1990s before being preserved at Brechin. It arrived at Whitehead on 4ft8½in bogies and had to be situated on a temporary inner rail.

This high density seating carriage will be a welcome addition to our main line set in due course. It will be numbered 306 in the RPSI Mk2 fleet.

Interesting seeing it sitting on the dual gauge track in the bottom picture.
