I've done a few searches on South West Trains and East Coast websites for fares from January onwards.

Oddly, I cannot find a London Waterloo to West Cowes fare, on either site, in either direction, searching on a variety of dates. I can however, find the London Waterloo to Ryde Pier Head at the new price.

It has existed before, I can search for the £33.80 fare (Network Railcard Off Peak Rtn) for current travel, but not for travel in 2010.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for that. Wonder why I couldn't find it then. Are you looking somewhere different?

Wilmslow - Prestbury off peak day return is strange. National Rail site only shows singles, which works out at nearly £9 return. It also shows returns for Wilmslow - Cheadle Hulme and Cheadle Hulme - Prestbury, totalling about half that.

Odd!

But the OP said he can't find it online from January onwards - won't that be covered by NFM 05? Will try to remember to check on Avantix Mobile.

The through fare doesn't appear in the "Fares Finder" in The Manual either, so I would suggest someone's forgotten to put it in, meaning it'll need to be issue as separate London Terminals to Southampton Central and Southampton Central to Cowes West tickets.

Cheers,

Barry

yes that's right, the fare didn't appear as for a through journey.

it also didn't appear as a journey at all on National Rail, whereas it always has done. it's not an issue to do with the connecting bus and ferry in Southampton, because as far as I'm aware these arrangements haven't changed.

Splitting the tickets is an issue, particularly with a Network Railcard, because a Southampton Central to West Cowes ticket surely cannot be discountable because it doesn't actually involve a train journey, and could well be less than the minimum fare.

the advantage of the through journey is that I got a 1/3 discount off the whole fare
