Missing couchette - any possibility of compensation?

I'm currently on the sleeper train from Koper/Rijeka to Budapest (a MAV service, Ex1247). I boarded at Zidani Most, and I'm meant to be in a couchette in the Koper portion; however, the entire Koper portion (booked as 3 coaches total - sleeper, couchette, seats) appears to be missing, and has been replaced with a single open seated coach that looks like it was "borrowed" from IC246 (Ajka-Ljubljana, another MAV service).
The train was 70+ minutes late leaving Ljubljana having been pretty much on time up to that point - I'm guessing there was a fault so they swapped all three coaches for a single one taken from another set of stock. (The outward trip to Koper definitely ran as normal last night (I was on the Rijeka portion!) so it's not as if they left the coaches in Budapest or something...)

Anyway: am I entitled to any form of compensation? I don't speak any Hungarian so can't really talk with the on train staff. (Note that I paid under £14 for the couchette so I'm not really that bothered... And yes it definitely was a couchette I booked, not a seat!)
The main thing that's annoying is that, since the trip I'm on was planned to be either couchettes or hostels, I didn't bring any of the stuff I normally do when expecting to have a night in the seats, so it's not going to be a very nice night!

(This post may not be particularly coherent, for which I apologise, but I've just spent 2.5 hours sat doing nothing (apart from getting cold) at Zidani Most, and I didn't get much sleep last night...)

Are the couchettes from Rijeka fully booked?
You are entitled to a refund of what you paid for the couchette, from the place where you booked it. If you're at least 60 minutes late, then you're also entitled to compensation for delay.

That would be also my question. Were all Couchette berths occupied in the Rijeka-Budapest car ?
It was the same coach attendant as the previous night, who didn't speak any English, so I didn't bother trying to ask. In any case, it's not like I paid a lot of money for it (a seat on NightJet typically costs more!) so I'm not particularly bothered by it! I've done worse things in the past - a relatively comfortable open coach does the job.
Anyway, it's all in the past now - I'll see if I can find some contact details once I'm back home to ask about a refund.

I've got another two nights in couchettes coming up next week to/from Romania. Hopefully that'll go as planned!

Well, technically-speaking the issuer of the Couchette reservation must refund 100% of that reservation, as the car was simply not available.
But not asking the attendant ? I mean you were probably not the only affected passenger asking him.

You don't need many words, just show your reservation.

Where did you book? If it's via MÁV, then have a look here:
They may want to do a SEPA transfer; in that case, give them the IBAN of an account that has low or no exchange fees, e.g, Revolut.
