Missed connection with split tickets-next train doesn’t call at split point.

I hold advance singles on the 19:16 LNER Leeds to Kings Cross, splitting at Stevenage. Due to being delayed by Northern on my journey to Leeds I will now miss this train. The last two trains are at 19:45 and 20:15, however neither calls at Stevenage. Presumably though I should be allowed to use one of them despite it not stopping at Stevenage?

There is no automatic right to do so (presuming Kings Cross is the final destination of your series of splits?), as by taking the 19:45 and changing at Doncaster or Peterborough you can catch the following ex-Aberdeen train that stops at Stevenage. This would result in you arriving at Kings Cross at 22:16, three quarters of an hour later than your booked 21:31 arrival.

Your anticipated arrival would have to be more than an hour late for you to have an automatic entitlement to be re-routed onto the next available train regardless of calling points/route.

That being said, there is no harm in asking the Train Manager on the 19:45 whether they're happy for you to continue onboard beyond Peterborough. I would say there is a reasonable chance they will be happy for you to do so.

Yes, given that it is not your fault and there are no alternatives. EDIT: Although I see that there alternatives. But just ask the TM on the train; they are likely to be sympathetic.

Thanks. RTT says the train I’m currently on is due at Leeds at 19:17, so if it picks up a couple of minutes I MIGHT just make it, if not I’ll talk to the Leeds staff.

Sorted, spoke to the train manager on the 19:45 and he said I can stay on. A 21:54 arrival will give a delay of 23 mins and Northern delay repay threshold is 15 so I may as well have a go at claiming something although I suspect they’ll reject or dispute it.
