Missed connection validation under CIV

If you have a UK Euro Return Paper Ticket (CIV) marked London International, and then you miss an international connection due to the UK TOC, does the UK ticket need validating?
If not, what are accepted means to prove the missed connection to a guard on an international train?
If the ticket does need validating, and the UK TOC don't have any Sunday staff (ticket offices or conductor), how would one obtain such a validation?

And to add one more: I know Railteam can use a stamp between Eurostar/Thalys/DB, how does that work for e-tickets? (My origional question assumes one or more of the companies are outside of Railteam, so that would be CIV?)

I've tried reading CIV conditions, but it's a little cryptic to the lay person. They really could do with a CIV for dummies guide produced by National Rail Enquiries.

You'd think that a guide to almost anything "for dummies" would be a useful resource for many of the people on NRE's phone lines themselves...

But I don't hold out much hope of the British railway system as it currently is making international rail journeys easy.

It's all of a muchness with the way that when the continent's railways (and ferry links) were virtually all in public ownership, and tickets for international journeys in Europe could be got easily in any country - including ones not on the route you were travelling - even then it was harder in Britain than elsewhere, with the need to go to a major station to get an international ticket.

But at least you could get a through international ticket in those days. Now, even Eurostar will only sell tickets to a limited range of destinations on the continent. Whilst years ago you could walk into Kings Cross (and presumably St Pancras, though I never did so) and get a through ticket from Britain to just about anywhere in Eueope.

You would have to be rebooked onto Eurostar, and they are in a good position to confirm TOC delays. After which, the ES rebooking is evidence.
No idea how they stamp e-tix though!
